Possible ball lightning?

A few weeks ago, Los Angeles was hit by a heavy electrical storm. there
wasnt much rain, but there was a lot of lightning starting in the
evening and continuing into the next morning. At around 2am, i noticed
a bright ball of light orbiting a sodium lamp on a building. it looked
too big to be a firebug. could it be ball lightning?
