Kids and storms



Death, destruction and danger, that's what children think about
hurricanes. Parents are mirrors to their children. So be calm,
collected, and make accurate decisions is the most important thing for
the kids. For younger children, Dr. Walker suggests comforting them
with actions rather than words, but as children get older they're more
aware of what's happening. During an evacuation, it's important for
parents to give kids something to do, like stowing away comfort items
like stuffed animals, games, and music cds. Things to make a child feel
safe when they're away from home. Teenagers have more concern for their
peers, so allow them to contact friends via cell phone. Take a look at
