I think the percentage is somewhat greater than 30%, but I agree it is
not the retailers who are ripping us off. It is the manufacturers, who
know that in the UK they can get away with taking the dollar price and
substituting the pound sign. Because of this Garmin(US) (along with
other manufacturers) is reluctant to trade directly with European
buyers. Nor does it approve of transactions by auction, because these
substantially undercut their inflated prices. My point is that they
get away with such restrictive practices because, by and large, we are
stupid enough in the UK to accept inflated prices.
