I have a preference for Garmin products and currently use a 2610 here in the US. (Prior
units are a 45, III+, Street Pilot and Street Pilot III.)
We're planning to take a trip to Great Britain later this year and I'd like to get a
handheld with auto-routing features to which I can load detail maps for Great Britain.
I'd also like to be able to use it to supplement the 2610 here in the US.
In looking at the Garmin web site, I'm unclear about whether I can use, or even obtain a
CD with Great Britain detail on/for a US base unit.
Ideally, I'd like to get a unit with US base maps with a European CD. But, I'm left with
the impression that the folks at Garmin don't bundle such a combination. At some point,
I'd also purchase a US detail CD for use back here.
So, I'm trying to determine if my understanding is correct and whether there are viable
alternatives.
Thanks.
