I dont have a particular problem that I am trying to solve where such accuracy
is essential. It is more a case that a feel a bit let down from the expectations
created by Garmins adverts.
Understanding the problem is a help, since the errors are consistent I can
compensate for them if I want.

I have a theory that once EGNOS goes live more people will start to question why
their GPSs are not giving precise answers.

Generally I agree

I recall traversing the side of a mountain. The proper path was about 10m above
me, but I could not see it. That is the sort of error which I would lile to be
able to avoid when EGNOS starts.

The Geko does not make this easy, but I have now been told how to do this with a
User Grid.

That gives 2cm accuracy. http://www.gps.gov.uk/accuracy.asp
My thought is that we are reaching a time when a more accurate solution to what
we have now is both feasible and economically pratical.

Some sort of PC upload to enable the GPS to a accurately convert one particular
Grid system might be one solution.
