No single software product will serve you for both street routing and
hiking. Products such as Maptech Navigator and Memory-Map are great
products for hiking with top maps at various scales from 1:25000 and all the
usual features you would expect. For street routing there are a huge number
of options and similarly the PPC GPS hardware arena has many choices to
consider inclusing GPS Mice, BT GPS and possibly a handheld GPS connected
via serial cable.
