I agree with you. I have a TOPO version and use it to map out the
snowmobile trails. It's really a PIA having to edit all those straight
lines away. Back when I first got my Map 330 I saw that they did this and
emailed Magellan about it. They wrote back and just said that it was there
to "fill" in the gaps when the satellites lost the lock. Which btw did
happen quite a bit when I was trying to use the 45xl and the Garmin 12
models. So, it's a negative on one hand and a positive on the other. But,
I stuck with Magellan and I like the Topo unit especially for the built in
maps it has. They aren't perfect but are pretty good where I've watched for
the contours. What I'd really like for them to do is to just not connect
the end points. And in fact if you read their documentation on the feature
set of the firmware it does state that if the unit is not used for a period
of time then it will not connect them together. Which is incorrect. It
does and has since the Map 330. I'd like them to correct that and give me
the option of stopping the track from linking those odd ball points
together.
In my opinion this is no toy and I don't use it as such. Maybe others do
but I'm not.

www.lhsc.net (map is on the website that was generated with the GPS 12 and
GPS45xl edit with waypoint plus and printed with Delorme SA 6. I have a new
one in the works but it's not finished yet. It will be the Topo unit and
the map software from Magellan.)
