Garmin could easily expand it's hardware to more than 12 channels. They
just think it's not worth it currently. Even with the current
constellation, 10+2 is more than enough. Using more channels has some
drawbacks. Don't you wonder why even a very basic 14ch explorist 100
will only get 12hrs runtime from a set of AAs, while the current 12ch
Garmins can do 20-35hrs, with an autorouting capable processor, plenty
of memory, colour display, USB, etc.? I guess Garmin is smarter than
some people think ...
Having more channels does not increase accuracy.
