Hi,
I have a basic Sportrak unit with which I am having two problems:
1. If the unit looses power (i.e.. the batteries die) it looses all
trackpoints and waypoints collected since the last power on. My previous
unit(ColorTrak)did not do this.
2. If I am trying to set a goto from uploaded POIs and ask for a sort to
the nearest the unit crashes and restarts. This will repeat until I choose
a smaller category of POIs and change the sort to alphabetical.
Q: Are these behaviors normal for this unit?
Q: Are these behaviors consistent across the Sportrak line?
Q: What is the limitation of the "nearest" waypoint sort, memory or a
limited number of POIs?
My speculations:
I saw a post discussing the basic Meridian unit (no longer in production)
that had similar data loss problems. Someone had replied that it was "the
type of memory" used in the unit that caused this and the other Meridians
did not have the same problem due to a different memory type. Could it be
the same case here?
I presume the when the unit sorts a category of POIs it has to make a copy
of all the POIs listed in the category in order to perform the sort. While
DataSend knows the limit of POIs that can be uploaded to this unit it
doesn't take sorting to nearest into account and save the memory for
performing this task. Could I simply be experiencing a shortage of memory
for this task?
Thanks,
