Bill,
I have downloaded the Lassen SQ GPS module pdf file
http://trl.trimble.com/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-22183/
>From the data sheet the power consumption of the GPS board only =110mW and
w/imbedded antenna =143mW so the antenna power consumption is 33mW.
I went to the Larsen home page http://www.radialllarsen.com/default.htm but
could not find the Larsen GPS3VDM antenna so I don't really know what the
specifications are.
The Compact Magnetic mount antenna in the Trimble/Lassen data sheet looks
exactly like a SM76 http://www.chronos.co.uk/pdfs/comp/SM-76.pdf
If you notice the specifications say they have two M3 tapped holes - I can
confirm this as I have an SM-76 which has the magnetic base and also the
two tapped M3 holes in the base. Power consumption ~35mW.
I also have a Gilsson - this also has the magnetic base and the two tapped
holes. If you notice on the web page for the Gilsson there is a Windshield
Suction Cup Mount Bracket and just below that you will se the two mounting
screws.
http://store.yahoo.com/gilsson/antennas.html
The power consumption is also within your range 5 to 11 mA @3.3V = 16.5 to
36.3 mW
Hope this helps.
