Presumably a result of Garmin's contractual arrangements with NavTeq.
When Garmin switched from TeleAtlas to NavTeq for version 5 of MG-USA,
the 'auto-routing on the GPS' feature was removed since that's now
what distinguishes CS-NA from MG-USA (besides extra Canadian coverage
of CS). Presumably the licensing fees paid to NavTeq for MG-USA don't
cover the right to use it for an auto-routing GPS. N-Route falls into
a bit of a gray area, but depending on the wording of the agreements
between Garmin and NavTeq it could be considered to make the user's
laptop/mouseGPS into a self-routing GPS unit and therefore not one of
the allowed platforms for MG-USA.
