Yours is a valid complaint, but it depends on the user. There is a learning
curve of a couple of weeks and after that the new interface is a plus. When
DeLorme retrenched in 2005 from their 2004 file system and simplified it
there was a big rebellion from a number of users on the DeLorme forum, so
DeLorme now offers a patch which reactivates the file system of 2004. I
don't know all of the alternatives that DeLorme had in choosing an
interface, but I am convinced that the present one offers more capability
and features.
