Ah! Excellent! In five years of owning the damn thing I never realised
you could do that! Thanks Phil. Why didn't I ask sooner?

But...

I've just tried it with my new 60CS and it doesn't work! After opening
a waypoint and scrolling through the fields I've discovered that I can't
highlight the distance field!

Damn! Drat! and other minor curses!

But no, surely if it was possible before, it must still be possible now?
Maybe they've just changed the method?

So after a little while in the garden playing with a test waypoint to
try to figure it out, I've discovered a new menu option (whilst in the
waypoint screen) - "Reposition Here". This does the same as you've just
described, it gives the waypoint the current grid ref (and the new
altitude too).

I hadn't noticed this option before, because it was off the bottom of
the list, I needed to scroll down to see it! There are so many options
and menu screens on this GPS it will take some time to become familiar
with all of them.

There's also an option to "Average Waypoint", which does the same thing
but averages your current position. This feature averages the GPS
altitude rather than using the altimeter altitude, so I can choose
between this and "Reposition Here" depending on whether I want the
altimeter altitude or not, and whether I want to average it or not.

Thanks Phil, for pointing me in the right direction to find these
options.

Now I just have to figure out the best method of distinguishing
waypoints that have been updated to "field" coordinates from those which
were simply marked on the map.
