You're operating the lever to engage the suction cup, right?

If the window and suciton cup are moderately clean, then it usually
sticks for a day or two. If you clean them both well then it should
stay for much longer.

If it's coming off in 30 seconds or less then it sounds like you have
a leak or some similar defect.

I like to attach it using the suction cup on the glass simply to hold
it in position but have the unit itself in contact with the top of
the dash somehwere to eliminate vibration that can make the display
hard to read with rough roads. In this arrangement it should stay
stuck there pretty much indefinitely.
