Here's one more tip that I found after attaching and removing my suction cup
hundreds of times after it got a little wear and tear on it.
Hold the lever straight out, 45 degrees from the cup, press the lever(not
the plastic shell) to remove all air. You should see a small gap between the
rubber and plastic shell, then lock down the edges.

This ensures a minimum amount of air between the glass and rubber.
