It's possible that the Buick has a metalized windshield which limits the
reception of satellite signals. The fact that the unit received a stronger
signal looking out the passenger side window or held outside supports this.
Using the external antenna will solve this problem. I use the same antenna
with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. The windshield is not metalized and I get
decent reception without the external antenna. I did notice, however, that
using the external greatly improves the reception. Hope this helps!
