Magellan Sportrak Map question

Hi...

I just acquired a used Magellan Sportrak Map GPS. First thing I noticed it
has problems with acquiring satellites, especially in my vehicle or indoors.
Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't - even with fresh batteries.

I have an older Lowrance GlobalNav-12 GPS which acquires satellites just
fine, indoors or out.

Is this a common feature of the Sportrak, or does this indicate a defective
unit?
