As you say, we certainly expect improvements in a new product.
My question would have been better put if I had asked how much of an
improvement we can expect. Not being familiar with how such things are
calculated, may I infer that if they go from using a 90m to 30m dataset that
the level of detail would increase in a manner analogous to what one would
see if the viewing distance to an object were decreased from 90 to 30m (or
perhaps better if compression techniques have improved as well)? How far
might this be from the level of detail seen on 1:24000 hiking maps?
