I tend to agree with most of what you say, but your recurrent stance makes
me wonder:
--What kind of car(s) do you drive?
--How many miles do you drive per day, on average?
To be fair, I'll start:
I don't drive much at all, since I work out of my home. Most of my car use
is on weekends, to nearby recreational areas, where the roads are very
rough; so I have an AWD car (and a GPS to guide me in!). Most of these
areas are within 5-20 miles by highway, and my travel on the rough roads
amounts to 5-10 miles every other week (we carpool and alternate vehicles).
The car gets 28 mpg highway EPA; my experience is more like 26 mpg. If the
new ford 4wd hybrid gets consistent reviews, I will consider buying it.
