It's certainly not a characteristic of the eMap if you're downloading
the main active tracklog since mine has always included correct time
and datestamps through all the various firmware releases. Hard to say
what your software may be doing since you don't mention what software
you use. You should be seeing the correct time/datestamps when
downloading the active log to MapSource.
Here are the first few lines from my hike this morning as recorded
with my eMap:
1 11/26/2004 10:35:17 AM 89 ft 82 ft 0:00:19 3 mph 225° true N38
01.081 W122 08.856

2 11/26/2004 10:35:36 AM 95 ft 44 ft 0:00:18 2 mph 139° true N38
01.071 W122 08.868

3 11/26/2004 10:35:54 AM 92 ft 36 ft 0:00:20 1.2 mph 127° true N38
01.066 W122 08.862

But that's the only explanation I could think of that would lead you
to get an eMap tracklog without the timestamps.

Lots of people use PPCs or Palms for this. One suitable program for
the PPC is g7toCE (eq. to g7toWIN for PCs), and GpilotS & gps_master
look like they'd be suitable for Palm devices. Either way you should
be able to use your eMap to record tracklogs that include the timestamps
and download them as needed when the active log gets close to full.
