First off, I am in the US and use a 60C with City Select.

I have not noticed anything in the auto routing "not following a street"
that would draw my attention to it. By comparison, it seems to do just as
well as a laptop using Delorme Street Atlas or Microsoft Streets. Maybe even
a little better than Delorme.

I have some other questions on auto routing though:

Just for the fun of it, I set a waypoint for my office which is about 10
miles from my home and another for my home.

When I route to my office from home, it chooses a route that takes me down a
neighborhood street that runs parallel to the street I normally take. On the
way home, it routes me on the other street.

For the same start and destinations, why would it calculate a different
route in coming and going between the two? The difference in route distance
only amounts to a couple hundred yards at best.

Just seems strange to me. I have noticed the differing routing on longer
trips too in going back and forth between 2 points.

Just a curiosity to me as I use those routes on a regular basis and am at a
loss as to why it would choose different routes depending on the direction
of travel.

Have you noticed that phenomena?

John S
