Garmin does not currently have any maps for New Zealand that support
auto-routing on either the GPS or the PC.
If you are using the third party maps from Brent then these are
Metrogudie style and also do not support auto-routing.
Navman are saying that they have auto-routing maps for NZ but we have
not seen then yet.
As far as I am aware no other manufacturer or software house has any
auto-routing maps for New Zealand.
... so it is a bit hard to give you an answer when the question seems
wrong.
