Previous USGS DRG topo maps which were available for Mac users required
several CDROMs or a few DVDs to cover most states. This is true even for a
software package which shows its maps at a reduced resolution. James
Associates recently released a product called MacTopos which uses new
technology to put most states on a single DVD. Huge states like California
require 3 DVDs, but that is still a big improvement. This was accomplished
using lossless compression, so all maps are in the same 250 DPI resolution
as the original USGS DRG files. These maps work with James Associates'
MacGPS Pro software, and support the new auto-open feature which
automatically changes to the correct map as the GPS receiver moves from
one quad to another. For more information see our web site at
<http://www.MacGPSPro.com>.
