Just for interest, here is a small part of my GPS track from yesterday:

You'll see one of the parts where I was walking down the middle of the
canal, between Tyle Mill and Ufton Bridge. Elsewhere in this fragment
the track fits the path very well, but in other places is was more than
50 metres out.
The level-crossing (LC) just by Ufton Bridge was the site of the recent
rail crash, by the way.
