I have been using the Garmin gpsmap 76cs (with mapsource city select v6.3)
on bicycle rides and have had very good luck with it. I have uploaded some
of my tracks to my web site http://homepage.mac.com/cnarayan/gpstracks/
More details on these tracks are available on my website.

Here are my observations:
1. I have mounted the GPS on my bike using the garmin bicycle mount. It
seems to work fine, although I worry about it when trying to engage or
disengage when wearing gloves.
2. I have also carried the GPS on my bike jacket on my back. This seems to
work as well.
3. The download and manipulation of tracks and elevation profiles is quite
satisfactory (I have not really tried any other software). I have been able
to annotate these as tiff files before I load them on my web site.
4. I also row and took it for the first time on my skull. It was an
extremely foggy day, I could hardly see 10 meters ahead of me. The GPS
tracked without missing a beat.
5. I have also tried the GPS on long walks around Seattle and have done a
little geocaching, again with very good results.
6. I have taken it on a hydrofoil boat to Victoria, and the tracks were
excellent, despite the fact the the boat had 2 levels, and I was on the
lower level.
7. I have taken it on a a car trip to Oregon and found the autorouting to be
very good and helpful.
8. The biggest advantage I see with this unit is that it is very versatile.
It can be used for multiple things, especially on the bicycle. I like it a
lot.
