There are registry enters in some reasonably self-evident locatoin (under
'Garmin' as the manufacturer's name) that have entries pointing to the paths
of the topo data. You copy the data to the hard drive and update those
entries to point to it directly.
I've done this myself, but it was well over a year ago. I found the
directions somewhere on-line; probably through a Google search. But I
figured I'd let you know it's 100% doable.
