Maybe it's been a few days (or a few weeks) since the thread last
received a post, and I've forgotten what was said previously. Maybe
the responder is replying to specific portions of a long post, and
selectively quotes the portion(s) to which he is replying.
In general, however, if someone is too lazy to trim their quoted text
properly, I'll just skip the post. My rule of thumb is if I have to
scroll down before I can see the first line of the poster's response,
I just hit the "Next" button. Anyone who is too lazy or too stupid to
quote properly clearly has nothing to say that's worth reading.
