I read the old parts if needed and scroll past if not needed. Editing
should be done but enough left so the post makes some sort of sense by
itself. I have seen posts like
"yes"
or
"I disagree"
or similar ununderstandible posts by themselves.
Some people get the newsgroupgs by subscription (I used to). Add to that
that some reply to post so late that their server no longer has the original
(I see that often). An e-mail with just the above texts is often useless
and a waste of time.
Again, people read down pages not up pages. Top posting is often a way of
being lazy (and sometimes I admittingly am)--either not editing what is
below or deleting it entirely leaving many people totally confused by what
they read.
