I'm very surprised by this. As most people here will tell you, the
60-series is known for phenomonal battery life. I always get >20 hours
and routinely >30 hours of life from my 60c (backlight off of course).
If this is really the case I would send the thing back to Garmin.
They're usually very quick about fixing/replacing faulty units.

I would try customizing your compass page with the 'Change Data Fields'
menu option. I'm sure you could get most of what you want.

I think this is just undocumented. Go to the compass page....up/down
cursor keys will change your speed and left/right will change your
direction.
