likely this is something you would need (except maybe for a motorbike) it is available in the far east and should be in the U S later on this year http://vaio-online.sony.com/prod_info/vgn-u8g/specifications.html it is a full blown comp running xp size-wise between a tablet and a pda
That could even be found acceptable on some motorbike installations. It is certainly more attractive than a full sized laptop as a means of getting more computing power into a smaller package with a reasonable sized display.
I tried to find some better specifications on that model's "Clear Bright LCD" display but have not found them yet.
It would be very helpful if manufacturers would include contrast ratios and nits brightness values in their display specifications so people can get some realistic ideas of how well the display will work in daylight and direct sunlight.
I think a display with dark room contrast ratios around 500 and nits brightness values around 800 to 1000 are about the minimum acceptable for daylight use.
But it is hard to find what the values are for many displays. There are many PDAs on the market that fall way short of those numbers and yet some of those are advertised as daylight readable and/or given meaningless names that imply some higher level of daylight usability (like "Clear Bright LCD").
I would not buy anything with a LCD display for outdoor use until I had learned what the CR and nits specs were or actually taken one outside in direct sunlight and looked at it.
