Technically you can load marine mapping into a SP2610 but Garmin
recommends against it as the SP2610 does not display the several
shades of blue very well.
For on road use the SP2610 is the most straight forward to use and the
touch screen is the fastest to enter addresses.
The SP2610 has only one grid (latitude and longitude) and one datum
(WGS84) but these are not a problem for on road use only.
The SP2610 also uses standard CompactFlash memory cards.
The GPSmap has a slightly larger but much sharper screen
It has over a hundred grids and datums.
I has 3000 waypoints (SP has 500), much bigger tracklog, abillity to
manually route (and also autoroute), several customisable screens with
customisable data fields. It is excellent for onroad, offroad,
motorcycling and boating. It can also be used as a large handheld.
A true multifunction navigator with almost no weaknesses, except for
one.....
It uses proprietory Garmin memory cards which are approx 5 times the
cost of standard cards and come in a maximum size of 256 MB.
I have no explaination (that makes sense) for this marketing
stupidity.
