My perception is MapSource hasn't improved much. In fact, I picked up Delorme's Street Atlas USA about a year ago, but due to some annoyances with that, just installed Microsoft's Maps and Streets. Garmin dropping the autorouting wasn't a big winner for me, though autorouting was iffy at best. Delorme is a definite autorouting improvement, but there's other quirks I find annoying.
Garmin removed real-time tracking from MapSource since they have nRoute which provides that function. Auto-routing is still supported by both products. I've been happier with the auto-routing by MapSource & nRoute (using CitySelect-NA maps) than I was with DeLorme. But I haven't updated the DeLorme maps for awhile so the assessment may be unfair.
