I have the following questions for a dealer or a expert garmin person:
a) What are the intended applications of the position report function
of Gpsmap276C? Can you cite some practical examples?
b) The DSC function requires a VHF/DSC radio with input/output NMEA ?
What brands and models of VHF radios was tested and recommended by
Garmin?
c) In order to receive and plot each boat position, the GpsMap 276C
need to send a request to the VHF/DSC radio, and must know the MMSI
number of that boat? If not, how can it receive automatically a boats
position?
d) What NMEA messages are used by Gpsmap276C do send this request, and
what NMEA messages are needed by GpsMap 276C to receive the vessel
position?
As stated by someone in the web, I want know if is true:
e) Is the "Position Report" function of GpsMap276C compatible
and/or equivalent to the GMDSS/AIS function? That is, can the GpsMap
276C receive and process the required AIVDM NMEA type messages?
f) Are these NMEA/AIS messages received at the 38,400 baud rate as
required by the NMEA 2000? The AIVDM messages format are NMEA 183
compatible?
g) What are the AIS receiver's brands and models tested with Garmin
GpsMap 276C?
h) If not compatible or equivalent to GMDSS/AIS , would Garmin support
the GMDSS/AIS function in this gps model in the near future? If not,
why?
Thank you very much
Pascal
