I looked at the Ozi .plt/.wpt files and I'm actually still saving them in
WGS84 format, for import to gpsmapedit (for compiling maps to go back on
the handset). So the only place where Ozi is introducing some discrepancy
is in calibrating OS map .jpgs for use as background in gpsmapedit, which
I use to assess whether some points or tracks are 'way off'.

In which case it is STILL an incorrect datum problem in Ozi. Are you sure that you can't set Ozi to use the OSGB Wales datum or does it only offer you one OSGB option?

Just one OSGB option for map calibration, as far as I can tell. Note that Ozi doesn't even know that you've =GOT= a GPS at that point, much less what it supports.

If neither of these options are possible (or if you want to minimize the
errors) then set Ozi to use WGS84 before you calibrate your background map
and use your version of Grid InQuest to convert the OS grid references of
your calibration points to WGS84 lat/lon and enter them into Ozi - then you
should have datum agreement to within 20cm.

Yeah, that'd probably work, if I could be bothered to run 50 maps * 4 calibration points per map (average) through Gridinquest and enter them in Ozi. Methinks I'll just manually drag the map(s) the last 4m or so. 8>.
