I outlined the procedure yesterday. Did you see that posting?

Your procedure appears to assume that the GPS will be delivering NMEA messages over its USB port. That's not the case for Pink's GPS receiver.

That's why it has been suggested to either use a USB/RS232 adapter or the software mentioned by Ben that converts the protocol used on the Garmin USB ports to NMEA.
