I believe very likely there is a little simple usb/serial converter
there as well.
I saw at times the S&T 05 plus the locator in Costco for under $50. It
started in n the fall 04 at Comp USA @$85. Regular price now is $101

It is in $70 range usu with a pcmcia adaptor which is a very useful
device also as a cf card reader for your mp3 player, camera ....
