How about precision? How precise can you get locating items on these
maps? Similar to waypoints?
Also, I suppose there are ways to have smaller items show up gradually
as one progresses through the displayed scales? Or can an item 'change'
(add detail) as you zoom in? Can these maps be used both in a GPS unit
and MapSource similarly? (I can't see how MapSource would allow an
overlay, but...?)
And can you 'create' your own line types? Color assignments? Or are you
limited to the established lines/color combos?
This stuff would be wildly useful for cable plant, especially the
long-haul fiber lines I used to work with. Radio coverage would be
useful too, whether omni or point-to-point; sector stuff like cellular,
too.
Pretty much any company that relies on physical plant out in the world
could use this in their fleets. Hopefully, most of this stuff would
already be in a GIS, so it'd be just a conversion process. Very
interesting stuff.
