You won't have any problem getting an unlock code from Garmin to use
CitySelect-NA on your UK-basemap SP III. CitySelect-NA would also be
available for purchase in the UK but I believe it costs about 100
pounds so you would have some savings by getting it in the US. That
assumes you'd have access to a PC for the installation and map
downloading.
As Colin mentioned, there's also the option of getting the GPS18/CS-NA
bundle which costs about the same as CS-NA by itself. If you have a
second Garmin GPS such as a mapping handheld then it'd be better to
just get the software and load it on both receivers. OTOH, if you only
have the SP III you might get the bundle with the GPS18 to connect to a
laptop or give/sell to someone else who could use it.
