I was think more about water ingress, although vibration resistance is
important too.  The KTM is for sale as I never get time to ride it and
the TA is only used for occasional, light-weight, off-road use
(farmer's tracks etc).

The Buell accessory map case is fairly well sealed, the back end opens for inserting maps and is closed by Velcro. It will probably do okay in rain while moving but I would not consider it a dry overnight storage place.

I can use the iPAQ touch screen easily through the clear cover on the map case, the Tom Tom 5 software has a good large icon menuing system that makes it easy to use with a gloved finger.

I glance at it in motion much like another instrument, I think it is too dangerous to try to do anything else while in motion. If I want to study things more or make any route changes I pull over.
