Dirk and many others,

try not to be condescending. Everybody in this thread is right
from a certain point of view, this much is obvious.

It also seems obvious to me that the original complaint has some
validity. Of course it was a mistake to use beta software for
any important purposes, so much is clear now.

But the fact is that some people are getting bitten by the time
bomb, so the question of whether this can easily be avoided
seems valid to me.

If my name were Garmin, I would consider putting a warning
somewhere that says how many more days the beta version will
work. This is simple and would avoid any damage (and the time
used in this discussion.) I'd display it once every 11 days and
once a day during the last 11 days.
