Real Time Tracking

I just returned from a 6,000 mile road trip. When we travel in our RV we
use Delorme Street Atlas on our laptop for navigation and found on this
trip that we could maintain an almost constant connection to the internet
through our T-Mobile data account. It was interesting to say the least to
update my Blog while my wife drove the RV across Alberta and Saskatchewan.
I was amazed at the almost continuous connectivity. That leads me to ask
if anyone knows how I could use that combination to cheaply update a web
site with my vehicle's position? I know there are off the shelf, read
expensive, solutions for fleet tracking. I just want something that would
use what I have to do a simple update of a map every hour or so. Any ideas
or suggestions?
