Yeah, it's part of the "more". But why don't they advertise it? Ain't they proud of their POI's? Why are they falsely advertising POI's that they don't have and not mentioning those that they do? Maybe they could sell some of their maps to people who are urgently looking for gay and lesbian centers and drunk tanks while driving in unfamiliar areas if they did!
I wonder how many Garmin employees really know what is in the POI database?
What's Magellan like these days anyway? I don't see much about it on this forum. Also, what about pocket PC GPS as an alternative to Garmin?
I haven't been following Magellan's offerings, though there is a Magellan unit selling at COSTCO at a price which seems attractive. I think there are reviews of Magellan at the Joe & Jack (& Dale) site:

Problem is that once you invest in Garmin CD maps, there is a degree of commitment. Sorta like Apple OX X vs. Win XP (though now I use both).
I imagine Pocket PC would make sense only in a car due to battery life. Then, why not just use a laptop with bigger screen, HDD, etc.? In either case you need some sort of GPSR and some software -- more decisions.
Hey, I'm just trying to do my part to put some pressure on Garmin who otherwise ignores us, their hitherto loyal customers. I use GPS every single day and I want a better map for my GPS, OK - something that shows gas stations and hospitals and camp grounds instead of the garbage above.
Good goal: I just doubt posting here will get you there (I've never got the impression that the folks from Garmin read newsgroup messages).
Phil .
