Re: Feedback on DeLorme Maps

Thanks everyone; I did order DeLorme Street Atlas 2006 and Topo USA 5. I've
been reading some of their tutorials and examples and am looking forward to
having some of these features like, for instance, adding a routable road
from a track (or drawing) in a location where a road is missing from the
map, and voice commands to the computer (if it works), actually there are
alot of features that sound useful. I went ahead and got the Earthmate GPS
LT20 together with the SA 2006 for the $50 extra because it seemed like a
good value at the time (?) oh what the heck now I can leave one in my truck
or give it to my brother or something.

Sounds like a lot of things have changed in the later versions, hopefully
the interface has been improved from the version that Rich used, but as has
been said, it's a 30 day return policy so I think it was worth a try. It can
import and export tracks, waypoints and routes to Garmin USB units (it has a
USB to Serial emulator like the GPSGate software) so planning a hike with
Topo 5 and loading into the VistaC may even work (though the topo maps
wouldn't be in the Vista, maybe I'll print them ahead of time), if so that
is more than I expect.
