Wireless 802.11 WiFi GPS

Hello group,

is there such a thing as a GPS transmitting its data via
WiFi 802.11 technology ?

If not, is this something that could be done ? What kind of hardware would
it involve if one would want to have the thing work for 12 hours or so ?
Weight of battery ? Volume of the elements ?

Thank you for answers
