Funny I was going to say I'm OK with a GPS or camera on my cell phone as long as it doesn't compromse the functionality of my cell phone. But, I'm not going to pay extra for my phone in order to get a crappy gps (or camera) when what I wanted to buy was a phone, the reverse is true of a GPS I'd think.

Cameras on cell phones is weird. But it is hard to get one without a camera now. That to me is like getting a bad Yugo in your garage when you buy a $600,000 home.

Yeah, but if someone has nicked the Cadillac you can at least drive to the grocery store. The cellphone camera is just there for when you didn't carry a real one (and actually some of them are getting halfway decent, compared to cheapo pocket digital cameras). Will it replace a $1000 Nikon? Don't be silly...

As I said in some other thread, the thing that does my head in (even with mobile phones used as phones) is the lousy battery life and the fact I can not easily field-replace the battery .. bring back the days when they ran on a couple of AAAs (or the future when they'll run on Vodka, or internal fusion pack, or whatever).

I ain't ever going up any hills with any sort of GPS that only has a fixed internal Li-Ion battery. Actually given the propensity of Li-Ion batteries to keep over after ~3 years, I probably wouldn't vote for them anyway, even for use in a car.
