In MapSource click on edit then preferences then waypoint then you can change waypoint character length from 6 to 10. Bruce E. Stemplewski wrote:
That does not help. They are still being truncated. The names are being truncated by the GPS before they are sent to Mapsource. I can see this via my C++ Class Library. These exiting waypoint names seem to be the only ones that have this problem.
A waypoint name (10 characters and with spaces) created in Mapsource transferred to the GPS and back into Mapsource seems to work fine.
I created a route on the GPS and transferred it to Mapsource, 10 character waypoint names seemed to transfer fine that way too.
I am not sure how the existing route waypoints where created that are in the GPS (it is a GPS that has been loaned to me) but the fact is, they are being truncated when transferred from the GPS to Mapsource.
Other Bugs
Waypoint names created with the Route Tool cannot be edited in MapSource or Mapsource with City Select or with the GPS itself once down loaded.
Waypoint names created with route toll do not display in the waypoint list even though some GPS devices do not have special route waypoints (all waypoints are "user" waypoints route or otherwise).
Waypoint names can be almost any length when entered in Mapsource, even though the preferences are set to 6 or 10 characters.
Waypoint names for routes can be 10 characters but only 9 are displayed in the route list even though there is plenty of space to display more than 10 characters (possibly 11 or 12). When edited all 10 characters are displayed properly.
