Garmin Etrex ext power

Hi !
I want to connect my Etrex to an external power source. I know it has
to be 3 V, but I have a stabilised source of 3.8 V for the backlight
of a 320*240 screen, wich will be used together with GPS. Should 3.8
V be too much for the Etrex (for rather long use : 8-10 hours
continous) ?
