Yeah, but no OziExplorer Palm..

What Palm are you using? I found my Tungsten T and T3 to be useless in daylight so I went with an iPAQ. The 3765 model has 64mb or memory and you can buy those for under $100 on eBay regularly. I don't use it for anything but a place to run Ozi-CE (and Tom Tom 5 for the car and motorcycle).
And if you're a boater you can also use MapTech BSB charts (up through BSB 3, not BSB 4) with Ozi-CE after going through the same conversion process.
Ozi-CE is a great piece of software, you can use the Ozi Explorer PC trial version to convert the USGS DRGs (downloaded for free) for use with Ozi-CE. You wind up with one file for each DRG (smaller than the original file).
If you register Ozi Explorer PC also, you can use that to edit your map image files. Turn your tracks into trails and the like. You do other things like trimming off the collars and merging a number of topo maps into one seamless map with no collars.
