You can get topo maps for the entire U.S. with MapSend Topo 3D. Garmin wants to sell you three CD's to get the same coverage. And the Magellan topo maps have better detail than the Garmin maps.
Garmin sells Mapsource TOPO US which covers all of the US. The product consists of 3 CD's: Western US, Eastern US, and Alaska/Hawaii and based on USGS 1:100,000 scale maps. This is one product with 3 CD's at about $85 (street).
The Garmin 1:24,000 "National Parks" topo maps are divided into 3 products: National Parks, West at about $90 (street). National Parks, Central at about $90 (street). National Parks, East at about $90 (street).
Okay, thanks for explaining that. I was confused about the different packages. And, to be fair, the Garmin National Parks packages would have better detail at 1:24k than the Topo 3D maps would for the same areas. I think the detail on Topo 3D is slightly better than the USGS 1:50k topo maps, like having some additional contour lines and details added.
