The mini-usb connector is considerably more rugged than it appears. I
have several pocket hard drives with this connector which have been in
extensive [and not gentle] use for several years moving from machine to
machine on a daily basis and never had a problem with either a cable or a
device socket. This looks like one connector style they got right over
the years.
[As to the i3, I bought two of them for relatives for Christmas. Quite
impressive for both its size and cost. I should note, I first tried the
B&W i2, but was very disappointed with the display. I had expected
something crisp and contrasty like a III+ or an original SP, but I found
the i2 display washed-out and hard to watch in most any lighting
condition. I was also surprised that the display would only operate with
the backlight. For me, the color display is orders of magnitude better.]
